Qualcomm has finally pulled up the curtain on its Snapdragon 821 chipset that was announced back in July. The company claims that Snapdragon 821 powered devices will boot up 10 per cent faster, provide faster launch application, and a more responsive user interaction. The new chipset will also bring in performance enhancements and UI optimisations that will make for a more responsive browsing experience.
Snapdragon 821 features a Qualcomm Kryo CPU (at 2.4GHz), making for up to 10 per cent improvement over the Snapdragon 820 in performance. The GPU on the Snapdragon 821 is an Adreno 530 that is running at 653 MHz, and represents a 5 per cent speed increase over the Snapdragon 820. The new chipset also brings a 5 per cent increment in power savings compared to the previous generation model.
Here are some of the new features that have been introduced with the Snapdragon 821:
1) Snapdragon VR SDK – Offers VR toolset for developers, and will bring in compatibility of the chipset with Google’s Daydream platform.
2) Dual PD – Will offer faster image autofocus speeds
3) Extended Laster Auto-Focus Ranging – Will increase visible focusing range, and also improve laser focal accuracy
4) Android Nougat – Snapdragon 821 will also support Android’s latest operating system, and will offer expanded compatibility, security and new features compared to previous OS versions.
Qualcomm Kryo CPU claims to provide two times the efficiency and performance in comparison to the Snapdragon 810’s CPU. The new chipset also brings in support for LTE Category 12 download speeds of 600 Mbps and 150 Mbps upload speeds.
ASUS ZenFone 3 Deluxe is the first smartphone to feature the Snapdragon 821.
