JioCinema has finally gone premium with an annual subscription cost of Rs. 999. The OTT platform aims to compete against the likes of Amazon Prime Video and Disney Plus Hotstar. Jio is partnering with global studios like HBO and Warner Bros. to offer exclusive content like Game of Thrones, The Last of Us, and more to its subscribers.
Users can subscribe to JioCinema Premium via the app or from a web browser. In both cases, one can subscribe to the annual OTT plan for Rs. 999. Users who currently have a Voot Select plan, which is also a part of Reliance, can get an additional discount on the JioCinema Premium subscription. However, at present, there is no exact information about this.
The JioCinema Premium subscription plan is valid for 12 months and claims to offer high-quality video and audio. Considering the current trend, the platform is likely to offer 4K content streaming on select titles, possibly with support for technologies like Dolby Atmos and Dolby Vision.
The service can be accessed on devices such as smartphones, tablets, laptops, and even on smart TVs. Similarly, a single account supports simultaneous content streaming on up to four devices.
Not at present. Content such as IPL 2023, movies and web series can be accessed on JioCinema without a premium subscription. However, HBO and Warner Bros. content is only available for premium subscribers. Just like Prime Video and Hotstar, we could expect to see more affordable subscription plans in the coming days.
