The Arc browser made a name for itself since its launch in 2022. Made by The Browser Company, it was initially available only on iOS and Mac. Now, the Arc browser is making its way to Windows and is available for download on Windows 11, without having to join a waitlist.
Built using Swift, the programming language used by Apple to develop iPhone and Mac apps, The Browser Company calls the Arc Browser “the operating system for the internet”. The Windows version of Arc shares the same core features as the Mac version.
On the browser, the most used web pages are pinned at the top bar. Users get the option to create Spaces – folders for different sets of tabs like ‘Office’, ‘Vacation’ and ‘Entertainment’.
Instead of a horizontal tab bar on the top, users get a vertical tab bar like the one on Edge. Some additional features include touchscreen support, the ability to create multiple user profiles, a split view for opening two tabs or more at once, and a picture-in-picture video player that allows the user to browse the internet while watching videos.
The Windows version of the Arc browser also has the ‘Peek’ feature that lets users see a quick link preview from the pinned and favourite tabs without clicking on them. Another recently introduced feature is ‘Arc Sync’, which syncs your browser settings across devices.
However, the Arc on Windows misses out on a newly launched ‘Little Arc’ feature that lets users open a link in a floating browser window. It is still unclear if the Windows version comes with AI-powered features like preview summaries, automatic live folders update and instant links to websites.
The newly launched Arc for Windows is currently only compatible with Windows 11, but the developers say they are already working on making it compatible with Windows 10.
