WhatsApp may soon get Telegram-like pin message feature: Here’s what you need to know

Popular instant messaging platform WhatsApp might soon be getting another useful feature that lets users set timers for pinned messages in conversations. Available on the latest WhatsApp beta for Android, the upcoming feature will let users choose how a long message stays pinned in a chat.

According to WABetaInfo, the message pin duration feature automatically unpins messages after a specific time period. Currently, users can choose to pin a message for 24 hours, 7 days or 30 days, but the developers might add more options once it is publicly available. As seen in the screenshot below, users will also be able to unpin these messages anytime they want.

With the new feature, users can easily pin a message at the top of the conversation so it is easily accessible anytime and does not get overlooked by other messages in a chat or group.

As of now, the ability to choose how long a message remains pinned in chats and groups is currently under development. While beta users will soon be able to use the feature, there is no timeline for when it will be available to everyone.

Earlier this month, WhatsApp rolled out the ability to silence incoming calls from unknown callers and send HD photos and introduced WhatsApp Channels with support for one-way broadcast messages.
