Sony Xperia XZ Premium, Xperia XZ1 and Xperia XZ1 Compact Android Pie update reportedly brings October security patch, redesigned camera interface

Sony has reportedly begun rolling out Android Pie update for the Xperia XZ Premium, Xperia XZ1 and Xperia XZ1 Compact. The update that has the build number 47.2.A.0.36 brings Android Security patch for October. The Android Pie update is expected to bring features like Sony’s new camera interface, full HD slow-motion video recording at 960fps and HDR enhancements that include X-Reality and HDR converter.

Sony last month announced that its 2017 Xperia XZ lineup would get Android Pie update by October. However, the update was delayed due to bug quashing, according to XperiaBlog report. The report further cited that Sony has not adopted Android Pie gesture navigation support for the Xperia XZ Premium, Xperia XZ1 and XZ1 Compact, but it is expected to arrive in a ‘later release.’

The latest Android Pie update for the Xperia XZ Premium, Xperia XZ1 and Xperia XZ1 Compact are said to roll out over the air in select regions. XperiaBlog in its report suggested that the selfie camera display flash could be a part of the update.

To recall, Sony introduced the Xperia XZ1 and XZ Premium in India last year. Both the smartphones feature an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 processor, a 19MP Motion Eye primary camera and a 13MP front-facing camera.

Xperia XZ Premium and Xperia XZ1 were launched for a price of Rs 59,990 and Rs 44,900 respectively. Meanwhile, the Xperia XZ1 Compact made its debut at IFA 2017. The smartphone carries similar innards as the Xperia XZ Premium and Xperia XZ1. But it sports a small 4.6-inch display as compared to the XZ Premium and Xperia XZ1 that feature a 5.5-inch and 5.2-inch display respectively.
