OnePlus 12R officially teased: Two new colourways confirmed

OnePlus has officially revealed the design of its upcoming OnePlus 12R, which looks much like the OnePlus 12. The company further emphasised that the OnePlus 12R will be the second member of the OnePlus 12 series and the company also highlights that the device doesn’t need to have a “Plus” “Pro” or “Ultra” moniker to offer the best hardware and software experience.

The company introduced the R series of smartphones back in 2021 with the OnePlus 9R series, and until now, it has been limited to markets like India and China. With the OnePlus 12R, the company is going global. Official renders also confirm that the OnePlus 12R will feature a metal frame, a huge upgrade over the OnePlus 11R with a plastic frame.

The smartphone has a circular camera island on the back, and, according to a post by Max Jambor on X (previously Twitter), the smartphone will include a 6.78-inch LTPO screen with Gorilla Glass Victus 2 protection, a large 5,500 mAh battery with 100W fast charging support, and triple camera setup with a 50 MP primary shooter. The device is also said to offer up to 16 GB of RAM and 256 GB of internal storage.

The company defines the OnePlus R series smartphones as “performance-focused flagships,” that offer the “best mobile gaming experience.” with industry-leading technology, all this within an affordable price tag.

The OnePlus 12R, along with the OnePlus 12 is launching globally on January 23 at the OnePlus Smooth Beyond Belief Launch Event. As per the leaks, the OnePlus 12R will be powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC, the same chip featured on the OnePlus 11. The OnePlus 12R could be priced similarly to the OnePlus 11R and might cost around Rs 40,000 for the entry-level model with 8 GB RAM and 128 GB of internal storage.
