The 25-year-old second seed has been in stellar form so far in the tournament. Before facing the 21-year-old Canadian in the last four, he had registered routine victories over Richard Gasquet, Dominik Koepfer, Pablo Andujar, Dan Evans and Botic van de Zandschulp. He will next face either Novak Djokovic or Alexander Zverev in the final. Auger-Aliassime too had a decent run, beating the likes of Frances Tiafoe and Roberto Bautista Agut along the way. This was his best-ever showing at any Grand Slam.
Medvedev wins it! Just like the second set, he imposes himself on the rookie. Arthur Ashe finds its voice again! Auger-Aliassime starts well on his serve, going ahead by 30-15! But he stumbles, ceding his lead to Medvedev, who makes it deuce! But the Canadian wins it from there, sealing the game on the first advantage.
