Former national team selector and Indian player Saba Karim took to Twitter on Thursday and said that T20 cricket had moved on from the batting style of Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma.

Tweeting about the blistering innings of Yashasvi Jaiswal who scored the fastest Indian Premier League 50 in history against Kolkata Knight Riders as well as Suryakumar Yadav’s explosive 83 against Royal Challengers Bangalore, Karim stated, “When one sees Jaiswal and SKY bat, it is amply clear that T20 game has moved on from Rohit sharma and Virat Kohli!!” He also tagged Anil Kumble and Harsha Bhogle in the aforementioned tweet.

Kohli and Sharma who have been absent from India’s T20 teams after the 2022 T20 World Cup, have had contrasting fortunes in this season of the Indian Premier League.

While Kohli has been fairly consistent with RCB, scoring 420 runs at a strike rate of 133.75, Rohit is going through a rather rough patch with the MI captain has accumulating just 191 runs at a strike rate of 124.83.

Additionally, Kohli has also been criticized for failing to maintain a high strike rate in the middle overs. This is exactly where Jaiswal and SKY have excelled with the former scoring a exhilarating 98 off just 47 deliveries while the latter put RCB to the sword with a stormy 83 off just 35 balls.
