Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) all-rounder Shahbaz Ahmed shared a hilarious incident of playing alongside foreign and Indian players in the Indian Premier League and how he faced a ‘language problem’ while conversing in a language he is not fluent in.

Sharing an incident of an earlier edition of the IPL, Shahbaz recalled a funny incident with Dinesh Karthik and said, “Did’t exactly fail to recognise him. It was the IPL pressure going on in my head. Only we players can understand that. There were two matches where I played with Sherfane (Rutherford) and we were talking in English (while batting).”

“There was a flow while I was batting with Sherfane. When he got out and DK (Dinesh Karthik) bhai came in and in the same flow I said something in English. DK bhai was laughing and he said, “I am DK, talk to me in Hindi.” In a situation like that he was still so calm and that’s why we see performances from him in pressure situations.”

Left-arm spinner, Shahbaz was bought back by the RCB at the 2022 IPL Mega Auction. After a bidding war with the KKR, RCB finally got their man for Rs 2.4 crore. A fine spinner and a handy batter, Shahbaz has played a total of 32 games in the league with his best bowling figures being 3/7.

Meanwhile, RCB lost to LSG by one wicket in a last-ball thriller on Monday. Chasing 213, LSG rode on Pooran and Stoinis’ brilliance to eke out a memorable win. Pooran recorded the season’s fastest fifty, reaching the landmark in only 15 balls.

Earlier, captain Faf Du Plessis, Virat Kohli and Glenn Maxwell smashed blistering half-centuries as RCB posted an imposing 212 for two after being sent into bat.

While Du Plessis made an unbeaten 79 off 46 balls, Kohli took the centre stage initially with his 44-ball 61-run knock, as the duo shared 96 runs for the opening wicket after being sent into bat.
