Mahendra Singh Dhoni could possibly be playing his final IPL game today at the Chinnaswamy Stadium, when it plays host to the RCB vs CSK IPL match.
While Dhoni has not confirmed that he will be retiring after this season — choosing to keep even CSK batting coach Michael Hussey in the dark about his future plans — there is an expectation that it could be Dhoni’s final game if RCB defeat CSK and the Chennai franchise are knocked out.

At the moment, the chances of CSK getting knocked out are slim. Chennai can sneak through into the IPL playoffs with a defeat to RCB too. If CSK win, they stride into the playoffs. If it gets washed out due to rains, then too the five-time champions will make it to the playoffs. For RCB, however, the equation — and consequently, the room for error, is tighter. RCH will have to win by a certain margin: for example, if it’s for a score of 200 by the team batting first, RCB need to win by 18 runs or chase the target down with about 11 balls to spare – to get into the top four.
For former CSK player Matthew Hayden, the one thing he wants to see in the RCB vs CSK game was simple: “(I want to see) MS Dhoni. He may get 15 runs. But I want to see 18 runs off the last two overs. Just play one or two balls and then go to school on those RCB bowlers. I’m talking nothing less than maximums for MS Dhoni at the end. Something that statically he’s been doing very well in this IPL,” former Australia cricketer Hayden said on Star Sports Cricket Live.
