Kickstarting the first ‘Tiffin Par Charcha’ event, organised by the Uttar Pradesh unit of the BJP as part of its month-long voter outreach campaign – Mahasampark Abhiyan – Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Sunday told BJP workers and leaders in Gorakhpur to help form a “new identity” of the party different from other “casteist and dynastic” parties, adding that it was neither a “club party” nor a party run by “one person”.
“BJP ko anya paramparagat rajneetik dalon ko jo parivarwadi party hain, jatiwadi maansikta ke saath karya karne wali party hain unse alag hatt kar ke apni ek nayi pehchaan banani hai aur pehchaan yeh banani hai ki nahi BJP club party nahi, parivarwadi party nahi, jatiwadi party nahi, kisi ek vyakti ke dwara sanchalit party nahi. BJP aam janmanas aur karyakartaon ki party hai. (Different from other traditional political parties that are dynastic and with casteist mindset, BJP has to create a new identity for itself. An identity that the BJP is not a club party, it is not a dynastic party, not a casteist party, and it is not run by one person. BJP is a party of common people and its workers),” Adityanath told a group of 328 senior party workers and leaders at the event held in Gorakhpur Urban Assembly seat.
The “Tiffin Par Charcha”– roughly translates to “discussion over a meal” — will be held in all the 403 Assembly segments of the state. The first of the several events was scheduled to be held in Agra on Saturday. But the party cancelled the Agra event, which was to be addressed by BJP national president JP Nadda, in the wake of the Odisha train tragedy.

In the “Tiffin Par Charcha”, planned on the lines of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s famous “Chai Pe Charcha” events that were organised in the run-up to the 2014 Lok Sabha elections, BJP leaders and workers are told to bring their own food in their tiffin boxes and talk about party strategy over lunch.
On Sunday, CM Adityanath and other leaders, who attended the event, were seen having lunch from their tiffin boxes.
Praising Prime Minister Modi during the meeting, Adityanath said: “BJP with inspiration from Prime Minister Modi is touching new heights today and is known as the largest party in the world.” He said that BJP was dedicated to the ideals and values of India and it honours the great personalities of the country.
Praising the nine years of Modi government at the Centre, Adityanath said borders have been secured and no one can dare to enter Indian territory and occupy land. “Entire world knows that India under the leadership of PM Modi has learnt to protect its self-respect and honour,” Adityanath said.

Claiming that the internal security situation of the country was bad before Modi became PM in 2014, Adityanath said, “There was extremism in Kashmir, separatism in the northeast state. Naxalism was at its peak in over 12-15 states. Today, due to the abrogation of Article 370, there is an atmosphere of peace, harmony and development in Kashmir. In the panchayat elections held there, people participated in large numbers and the BJP got huge support… This change in Jammu & Kashmir has happened because of development in the past nine years… Naxalism has almost finished in the country, barring in one or two states.”
“At present, there is a BJP government in the northeastern states of Arunachal Pradesh, Tripura, Manipur and Assam. In Nagaland and Meghalaya too, the government is running with the cooperation of the BJP,” he said.
Stating that Gorakhpur has witnessed rapid infrastructure development, he asked party workers to publicise the achievements among the people during the Mahaampark Abhiyan.
Following the event, Adityanath tweeted: “The meeting was extremely successful and positive.”
