An official accompanying Napoleon told PTI that some of those at the junction were drunk and demanded to know why Napoleon was visiting the city at a time when Jayalalithaa was addressing a rally.

The miscreants attacked the convoy as one of the cars reportedly sported a DMK flag.

The official said people of neighbouring Chinnaudaippu took Napoleon and his party to their village, allowed them to stay there for some time and advised them to proceed on their onward journey by another route which did not have much traffic.
