Top leaders of the NDA will meet on Wednesday evening at BJP President J P Nadda’s residence to discuss s host of issues, including the recent Ambedkar controversy.
Sources said high on the agenda is the controversy over Union Home Minister’s “insulting” remarks on Dr B R Ambedkar as well as coordination.
Deliberations on key legislations like One Nation One Election and Waqf (Amendment) Bill, 2024 are also likely to be held. Both Bills have been referred to joint parliamentary panels for scrutiny.
Seat-sharing for the upcoming Delhi polls is also likely to be discussed among NDA allies.
In context: Last week, the protests on Shah’s remarks outside the Makar Dwar of Parliament escalated as NDA and INDIA bloc MPs clashed resulting in two BJP MPs – Pratap Chandra Sarangi and Mukesh Rajput – being injured. Following the incident, the Delhi Police registered an FIR against Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi and booked him on charges of assault.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi will on Wednesday lay the foundation stone of the Ken-Betwa river linking project, the first such initiative under the national river interlinking policy, at Khajuraho in Madhya Pradesh.
Nearly 44 lakh people in 10 districts of Madhya Pradesh and 21 lakh in Uttar Pradesh will get drinking water under the project, which is estimated to cost Rs 44,605 crore, Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav said on Tuesday.
Nearly 7.18 lakh farmer families of 2,000 villages will be benefitted from the project, which will also generate 103 MW of hydropower and 27 MW of solar energy, he said.
“Prime Minister Modi is coming to Khajuraho in Chhatarpur district on December 25 to lay the foundation of this project which will change the image and destiny of Bundelkhand in Madhya Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh,” Yadav said.
The Ken-Betwa Link Project is a unique example of cooperation and coordination between the central government, Madhya Pradesh, and Uttar Pradesh, he said.
Union Minister for Cooperation Amit Shah will inaugurate over 10,000 newly established Multipurpose Primary Agricultural Cooperative Societies (M-PACS), along with dairy and fisheries cooperatives on Wednesday.
He will also distribute registration certificates, RuPay Kisan Credit Cards (KCC), and micro ATMs to cooperative societies. Union Minister for Fisheries, Animal Husbandry & Dairy, and Panchayati Raj, Rajiv Ranjan Singh, along with dignitaries and senior officials will participate in the event.
