(PTI Photo) Prime Minister Narendra Modi Wednesday attacked the Congress over the rift between Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot and his former deputy Sachin Pilot, saying the CM doesn’t trust his MLAs and the MLAs don’t trust him. He also blamed the Jaipur blast acquittals on a “soft approach” by the Congress towards terror.
“When the CM’s chair is in crisis for all five years, then who will care about Rajasthan’s development? Hence, under Congress rule in Rajasthan, law and order has completely collapsed… And slaves to its vote bank, Congress is scared of taking action to appease some people,” the PM said.
Addressing a rally at Abu Road, the PM said: “For the last five years, an ugly face of political slugfest has been seen in Rajasthan. Rather than (speaking about people’s interests) there is only a game of looting the (CM’s) chair and saving the chair. What kind of government is this where the CM does not trust his MLAs? What kind of a government is this where the MLAs don’t trust their CM? Within the government, there is a competition to humiliate the government.”
Citing the anniversary of Jaipur bomb blasts on May 13, he said the families of the victims are hoping for justice, “but the Congress government in Rajasthan did what Congress is notorious for, what its history has been notorious for”.
“For appeasement, Congress has always adopted a soft approach for terrorists. Congress does not leave any opportunity to stand with the terrorist ideology. Due to this thinking, the Rajasthan Congress government fought the Jaipur bomb blasts case weakly. Due to this the bomb blasts accused were acquitted. Congress can now try to whitewash but its truth has come before the entire nation,” said Modi.
Even as Karnataka voted on Wednesday, the PM linked its Hakki Pikki tribe with Maharana Pratap. He said that self-respecting people were not ready to bow before the Mughals and hence, “the people who were with Maharana Pratap, the adivasis who supported Mahrana Pratap, they laid down their lives for their religion, for Maharana Pratap.”
He said that these people, the tribals in Rajasthan or in the neighbouring Gujarat, left from here “with a resolve to win again” and reached Maharashtra and Karnataka. “They still live today with pride in Karnataka, that community is called Hakki Pikki and work with herbs. They have been living there since generations. They still sing praises of Rana Pratap,” Modi said.
“A lot of them take herbs from the jungles and do business in Sudan and African nations. Hundreds of such Hakki Pikki persons were caught in the fight in Sudan. Our BJP government was trying to extract them from Sudan, but considering electoral politics, Congress started shouting. You can imagine, a different continent, a different nation … there is fighting everywhere. But here the Congress was shouting for these communities. And the result was that the noise travelled there (Sudan) … they were to be extracted quietly but the Congress made such noise and revealed their faces. Congress threatened the life of the tribals (through its actions). Why did the Congress do this? Because Congress wanted one or two people to be shot at. And if these Hakki Pikki tribal people were shot at, then they (Congress) will enjoy playing a game in Karnataka elections. They were waiting for some mishap, so that they can grab Modi’s throat,” the PM said.
“But in all this politics, Congress forgot one thing. I believe it still hasn’t been able to recognise Modi. Congress persons should know that this is Modi, and he can cross any limits to protect each and every person Indian caught in trouble,” he said.
He said that during Covid 19 too, Congress tried to spread rumours and “wanted more and more people to die, and they were looking for an opportunity to grab Modi’s throat. But Modi has never bowed down before the threats and conspiracies of these people. Modi only bows before the 140 crore countrymen.”
The PM also termed “Congress’ guarantee 50 years ago to remove poverty” as “fraud.” He said that “due to this fraud, over 10 crore families did not have toilets before 2014, 50 crore people did not have bank accounts before 2014, lakhs of villages were deprived of roads, and 16 crore homes were not getting tap water.” This, he said, changed after 2014.
