Rakul Preet Singh, who’s known for her clean-eating lifestyle and rigorous workout routine, recently made a hilarious confession on The Ranveer Show podcast. When asked to list the seven food items that she’d never eat in her life, De De Pyaar De actor said, “I won’t say that I won’t eat them even a bit. I have a habit of taking a bite”. On being insisted, Singh laughingly lists these food items, which are often at the top of foodies’ lists.

“Bahut gaali padne wali hai mujhe,” Rakul joked before naming some of India’s most-loved dishes as her least favourites. From street food classics to rich festive staples — here’s what didn’t cut her.

1. Vada Pav

The Mumbai staple that defines street food culture doesn’t tempt Rakul. While most can’t resist a spicy potato patty tucked between pav, she admits it’s simply not her thing. Looks like she’d rather grab a protein bar than a vada pav!

2. Jalebi

Golden, crispy, and dripping with syrup — yet not Rakul-approved. The actor revealed that she avoids overly sweet or deep-fried foods, and jalebi checks both boxes. “Jalebi nahi samajh ati mujhe. Even though it’s my mom’s favourite” (I don’t really understand the concept of jalebi).

3. Chole Bhature

For many, it’s the ultimate comfort meal. But for Rakul, it’s a straight no. Despite being a Delhi girl, she confessed that the deep-fried bhature is not her thing. “I’ll eat the chola, not the bhatura.”

4. Fried Pakodas

Rainy-day snacks? Not for her. Rakul prefers keeping things light, steering clear of greasy munchies that most people crave with tea. “Tala hua pakoda, bread pakoda, normal pakoda: I’m not a fan of that”

5. Butter Chicken

Singh said that this answer is sure to earn her backlash, but butter chicken is not her thing. The actress recalls seeing it being cooked in a restaurant and being shocked to see four packets of butter added. “Mai chaar din bhi gym mein ye nahi nikal sakti hu,”(I can’t burn off these calories even with four days of gymming) she laughed, talking about butter chicken. The creamy, calorie-laden Punjabi favourite is her ultimate red-flag dish.

6. Cheesecake

Even dessert couldn’t cut! Rakul confesses that when she saw a cheesecake being made, she swore she would never eat one again. Too sad, the delicious slice of heaven is not Rakul-approved!

Now, before you judge the actor for her dietary choices, note that all these dishes are highly calorie-dense and don’t align with many people’s fitness and weight-loss goals. Dr Soumita Biswas, Chief Nutritionist, Aster RV Hospital, gives a complete nutritional profile of each one below, along with healthier alternatives:
