Demanding a special session of Parliament to discuss corruption cases,NDA convenor Sharad Yadav on Wednesday said the entire tenure of A Raja as cabinet minister in the successive UPA governments should be investigated by a JPC.
“Add as many issues as the Government wants to but the JPC should be formed… There should be a five-day special sessions of Parliament to discuss corruption issues and ways to fight it,” the JD(U) chief told reporters here.
Noting that corruption can’t be tackled till the time people had faith in institutions the way they have in the Supreme Court or the CAG,Yadav alleged,”CBI is the only agency with the government for investigation but it is used for political purposes only and it has lost its credibility. How can people trust it.”
Asked if Raja’s tenure as Minister of Environment and Forests between 2004 to 2007 should also be investigated, the JD(U) leader said,”Entire tenure of Raja should be investigated and if there are any wrongdoings before that, they should also be brought into the ambit of JPC’s investigation.”
On whether the PAC examination into the 2G Spectrum allocation scam was diluting the demand for a JPC,he said,”PAC is doing its work and JPC has its own objectives. It is also there to strengthen the institutions of the country.”
Pointing out that wrongdoings into the Commonwealth Games have been put on the back-burner and that nobody was talking about them,Yadav said,”These scams should also be investigated by a JPC.”
