In a bid to quell the increasing rebellion against party’s Moga president Darshan Singh Brar, PPCC president Capt Amarinder Singh Thursday tried to save the situation for him by apparently asking Col Babu Singh, the Dalit face of the town, who had accused Brar of throwing casteist remarks at him, to exercise restraint.
Earlier this week, Brar was also named as an accused in a molestation case lodged by a former MLA of Moga, Malti Thapar. Amarinder has ordered an inquiry, asking senior party leader Lal Singh to look into the matter and satisfy the aggrieved party.

Col Babu Singh, who Wednesday threatened to file a police complaint againt Brar, told The Indian Express today that the party would sort out the issue and that he would not take it up on any other platform.
“I got a call from Amarinder’s confidante, Capt Sandeep Sandhu, who conveyed his message that I should have confidence in the party. If I have any issues, I will take it up on the party platform. They have promised to me that I would be satisfied at the action they would take,” said Col Babu Singh.
Sources said the party leadership was sensing a revolt against Brar, who was eyeing party ticket from Moga in 2017 Assembly election, and have asked several other leaders in Moga to exercise restraint.
Meanwhile, Lal Singh had proposed to visit Moga today to hear out both sides but Malti, it is learnt, had stated she was out of town.
Thapar had on Monday registered a molestation case against Brar; on Tuesday she moved the Women’ Commission against Brar while on Wednesday Col Babu Singh levelled allegations against the party’s Moga unit president.
