If required,NCP will go alone in Maharashtra: Pawar

NCP favours an alliance with Congress for the upcoming assembly elections in Maharashtra but if Congress desires otherwise,it is ready to go it alone.

Nationalist Congress Party favours an alliance with Congress for the upcoming assembly elections in Maharashtra but if Congress desires otherwise,NCP is ready to go it alone, party chief Sharad Pawar said on Wednesday.

“It is our desire to contest elections with Congress. NCP’s view is of fighting elections together but that should not be NCP’s view only,” Pawar said at a party meeting in Mumbai.

In the event of an alliance with Congress not materialising for the assembly elections,Pawar asked workers and functionaries to gear up to contest all 288 assembly seats on its own.

Alleging “sabotage” by Congress during recent Lok Sabha elections, several speakers at the meeting requested the party leadership that NCP should contest assembly polls on its own.
