‘Green snake’ reference not for Mulayam: Amar

Hours after attacking Mulayam Singh Yadav,Amar Singh on Thursday night said that his reference to “green snake in the grass” did not allude to the SP chief but was a general comment on those professing to be secular.

Singh, who earlier in the day had launched a scathing attack on Yadav, blaming him for allying with Kalyan Singh for wooing OBC votes at the expense of angering SP’s traditional Muslim base, said,”I never called Mulayam Singh Yadav a snake. I only made the reference of “green snake in the grass” on a general basis.”

He added that the reference was “for anybody who professes to be secular and made alliances on the basis of secular thought. It was not in context of Mulayam Singh Yadav”.
