BJP calls Lalu a ‘sinking ship’

The BJP accused Lalu Prasad of compelling his youngest son Tejaswee to take plunge into politics.

Describing the RJD as a “sinking ship”,the BJP today accused Lalu Prasad of compelling his youngest son Tejaswee to take plunge into politics to revive the party’s fortunes in the upcoming Bihar Assembly polls.

Prasad has been rattled with mass desertion from his party ahead of the polls and decided to bring his 20-year-old son into the whirlpool of politics to revive a “sinking ship”,Deputy Chief Minister Sushil Kumar Modi told reporters here.

“I know Tejaswee is a good cricketer with a bright future in the game…. He should have been better left to perform on a cricket field,” he observed.

Modi quoted from Tejaswee’s reported remarks that his father does not allow others to speak to drive home their point.

Even now,Prasad has been merely speaking on one issue or other and has no concrete development agenda to offer in the ensuing Assembly polls as well,Modi claimed.

He advised the RJD chief to concentrate on preventing his house (the party) from coming apart amid desertion from its ranks to other political parties.

Modi also took a dig at Prasad for his affection for the upper castes, saying that the attempt to woo them was a non-starter as there were no representatives left from Bhumihar,Brahmin and Rajput communities in the party.

“Forget the upper castes, his own brothers in-law Subhash Yadav and Anirudh Yadav alias Sadhu Yadav has left Prasad’s shadow. Even his wife Rabri Devi is missing from her husband’s side at the crucial juncture when his ship is sinking,” the Deputy Chief Minister added.
