Congress is trying to regain lost ground by reaching out to voters ahead of a most likely alliance with the Janata Parivar.

The Bihar unit of the Congress is trying up to regain lost ground by reaching out to voters ahead of a most likely alliance with the Janata Parivar.

Bihar Congress president Ashok Kumar Choudhary, who started a “padyatra” from Bodhgaya on March 20, completed the 350 km “Kisan Mazdoor Nyay Padyatra” at Vrindavan Ashram in Bettiah, West Champaran, playing on Buddha-Gandhi symbolism.

“I have replaced 37 of 40 district presidents and have ensured right social combination by giving the post of vice-president to member of another caste. The posts of vice-presidents have been handed out to the younger lot,” he said. The yatra began from Town Hall where hundreds of foot marchers stayed the night. After garlanding statues of eight martyrs, Choudhary began the 10-km march to Vrindavan Ashram with messages on the “disadvantages of land acquisition bill” blaring on loudspeakers.
