Low-cost carrier Air Deccan founder Capt G R Gopinath is likely to contest the Lok Sabha elections from one of the constituencies in Bangalore.

Low-cost carrier Air Deccan founder Capt G R Gopinath is likely to contest the Lok Sabha elections from one of the constituencies in Bangalore,informed sources close to him. However,it was not immediately clear whether he would contest on a party’s ticket or as an independent. He is expected to make an announcement later on Thursday.

The Union Cabinet has approved a 3% increase in Dearness Allowance (DA) for Central Government employees and Dearness Relief (DR) for pensioners, effective October 1, 2025. This decision will benefit 49.19 lakh employees and 68.72 lakh pensioners. The increase is in line with the recommendations of the 7th Central Pay Commission and will help offset the impact of rising prices.
