Three women, including a 15-year-old girl, have been killed in an IED blast in Chhattisgarh’s Maoist-hit Narayanpur district. A police officer said Maoists had planted the device to target security personnel at a road construction site on Wednesday. A two-year-old child is among the four wounded. The dead and wounded were part of a group of villagers from Kumnar that was on its way to a forest to pick up fruits. “Maoists have planted IEDs to target security forces deployed to facilitate ongoing road construction on that axis. They mostly plant landmines close to trees and culverts. Several times in the past security forces as well as villagers have become victims of such blasts in the Bastar region,” IGP SRP Kalluri said.
