CHHATARPUR, AUGUST 30: A boy and a girl sustained severe injuries when a youth threw acid on them in a busy market area of the town on Sunday night.

District Superintendent of Police Sayed Mohammad Afzal said the accused Mahavir Pandey threw acid when cement merchant Chhannulal Agrawal’s son Hemant and daughter Anita were passing through the Mahal Chowk area of the town in a autorickshaw.

Both the injured have been hospitalised at Jabalpur. The accused is reported to be absconding. Further details are awaited.
