CHHATARPUR, AUGUST 30: A boy and a girl sustained severe injuries when a youth threw acid on them in a busy market area of the town on Sunday night.

District Superintendent of Police Sayed Mohammad Afzal said the accused Mahavir Pandey threw acid when cement merchant Chhannulal Agrawal8217;s son Hemant and daughter Anita were passing through the Mahal Chowk area of the town in a autorickshaw.

Both the injured have been hospitalised at Jabalpur. The accused is reported to be absconding. Further details are awaited.
