Worker beaten to death

Chandigarh, MAY 16: A 23-year-old worker of a factory in the Industrial Area, Phase-I, here was reportedly beaten to death today. Police sources said that Upender Singh, a resident of Colony Number 4, sustained multiple injuries after he was allegedly badly beaten up by his employer and a few employees of the factory. He was declared quot;brought deadquot; at the Government Medical College and Hospital, Sector 32.

The police have arrested two persons, Sangeshwar Parsad and Ashok Kumar, while the factory owner Parmod Kumar, who is absconding, is yet to be traced.

They tied the deceased with a rope to a table and repeatedly hit him with sticks and also kicked him till he was seriously injured, police sources added. They were alleging that he had stolen Rs 10,000 from the factory about a week ago.
