
Top seed Kevin Wong and second seed Tushar Khanna moved into the boys8217; under-10 singles final of the 20th Yonex Chandigarh State Badminton Championship being conducted by Chandigarh Badminton Club under the patronage of Chandigarh Badminton Association here on Saturday. As the Sector 42 Badminton Hall was left unplayable due to leakage in roof, today the matches were conducted at Government Model Senior Secondary School in Sector 23 here. Kevin won ousted Ahil 21-9, 21-12 in the semi-final of boys8217; under-10 while Tushar defeated Aryan Singh 24-22, 19-21, 23-21.
Kevin Wong also advanced to the boys Under-13 semi-final after defeating Shaurya Rattan by 21-13, 21-12 in the quarter-final match.
Top seed Rajjan Singh gave a walkover to Vishal. Robin Saini and Chetnaya also entered semi-finals. Robin beat Lovepreet Singh by 21-15, 21-15 and Chetanya beat Gauravdeep Singh by 21-18, 21-14.
Giant-killer Mehak Sood will meet Sherya in the girls8217; Under-16 singles final. In semi-final matches, Mehak eliminated the challenge of Navika by 21-17, 22-20.
Earlier in a quarter-final match, Mehak Sood pulled off the biggest surprise as she ended the challenge of topseed Rushmi by 21-14, 21-15.
Top seed Oscar Bansal and second seed Pankaj Nathani entered the men8217;s quarter-finals with victories. International Oscar Bansal easily prevailed over Aman Sethi by 21-16, 21-8.
