Maturing well in its third year, the Pune Gourmet Club plans to take its next wine festival to a new high along with introducing the open source restaurant concept in the city
Just a toddler in the year 2007, the first ever-wine festival in the city in its 2nd year matures to shed the tag of just another wine tasting festival. As the members of Pune Gourmet Club announce the highlights of festival on club8217;s second anniversary the hopes of the festival making it big this time soar high. So get ready to witness another complete wine tasting festival. And this time the festival has a lot more to offer than just 8216;pairing which wine with what food8217; lessons. With eight more wineries to add to the seven in the first festival and over six gourmet stalls last year there were three the festival, scheduled in December this year, will inveigle wine lovers showcasing city8217;s international and eclectic cuisine.
The festival apart from cultivating the love of wine amongst people also aims to promote Indian wines across the country. 8220;In this one year the wine scenario has experienced a tectonic change. Lot more new wineries have come up apart from Sula, Vinsura, Nira, Century and other usual names that dominate the Indian wine scene. We encourage new wineries to showcase their wines at the festival. This time too we are doing the same,8221; says Shakarnarayan. Providing a platform to the new wineries across India the festival will feature seven new wineries across the country. 8221; Deccan Plateau is a small boutique winery to whom we have requested to launch their wine in this festival,8221; says Shakarnarayan who remains hopeful about wineries from Karnataka participating in the festival. 8220;I am expecting the wineries there to participate because of the change in the tax equation recently,8221; shares he.
Meanwhile the second anniversary celebrations of PGC hosted at Silk Route in Koregaon Park on September 21, was a resounding success with over 70 members in attendance. An assortment of Indian wines combined with exotic Latin American cuisine dished up by members themselves made the Sunday afternoon a memorable one, as did Chef Parag Kanhere8217;s much-appreciated guidance to the band of enthusiatic cooks. All in all an event worth raising a toast to for sure.
