ARNOS VALE, ST.VINCENT, April 4: The West Indies slow bowlers kept a tight rein on England to limit them to 209 for eight off 50 overs in the third one-day cricket international today.

After winning the toss, the visitors8217; innings never gained momentum after the early loss of left-hander Nick Knight 15. West Indies captain Brian Lara, used his slower bowlers to good effect and England could not break the stranglehold. Even with Ambrose nursing a sore back in the pavilion, the visitors only managed 11 fours and a six during the innings.

Alec Stewart and Ben Hollioake consolidated after Knight8217;s loss to put on 58 for the second wicket. But both fell to Simmons within six runs as West Indies took the initiative.

Graeme Hick 45: 95b, 1215;4 and captain Adam Hollioake 31: 49b, 2215;4 revived the innings in a patient stand of 75 but never fully looked in command. Mark Ealham chipped in with a run-a-ball 23 towards the end.
