Windfall for school, samaritan donates Rs 7 lakh

SATARA, April 26: Arvind Dhavale, a leading citizen of Karad, has donated Rs 7 lakhs to the girls’ school run by Maharshi Karve Stree Shikshan Sanstha at Satara, in memory of his departed wife Arundhati. Dhavale was felicitated on the 140th birth anniversary of Maharshi Dhondo Keshav Karve on April 18 by chairperson, Sarita Bhat.

President of the school committee Chandrakant Majgaonkar said that about Rs 28 lakh have been spent so far on the extension building of the school and 15 classrooms are ready. An additional Rs 30 lakh would be spent to get 12 more classrooms ready. The function was attended by director of the physically handicapped centre at Kolhapur, Nasima Hurzuk.

Among those who felicitated Dhavale and Hurzuk on the occasion included representatives of Mahratta Chamber of Commerce, Mahila Club Girls’ School, Satara, Vishwa Hindu Parishad, Janaseva Mitra Mandal and others.
