The Birla clan 8212; now closeted in their ancestral Kolkata home 8212; are not only figuring out how to keep the family silver intact, they are, it is learnt, enjoying an unprecedented unity within the family. Says Avanti Birla, wife of Yashovardhan Birla, from Kolkata: 8216;8216;The mood here is very tense8230; but all the Birla family members are together in this fight.8217;8217;

It was 37-year-old Yash Birla 8212; a grand nephew of late M P Birla 8212; who was supposed to get a sizeable part of M P Birla group8217;s assets valued at Rs 5,000 crore. 8216;8216;I don8217;t think the Lodhas will be able to withstand the pressure and power of the united Birla family,8217;8217; said a source close to the Birlas.

They add Priyamvada wanted Yash Birla 8212; a regular in the Mumbai party circuit 8212; to shift to Kolkata to take over the group8217;s businesses. But as Yash could not make it to Kolkata, it was Priyamvada8217; trusted aide for the last two decades, Rajendra S Lodha, who was given the entire business empire. 8216;8216;Even after some senior Birlas like BK Birla and KK Birla asked for the copy of the will8230; they were turned down by Lodha,8217;8217; said top Birla sources. 8216;8216;Now we are moving courts to get at least the copy of the will,8217;8217; sources added.
