Prince Edward sparks Oz adventure controversy
Sydney: The youngest son of Britains Queen Elizabeth II,Prince Edward,sparked controversy on Friday with claims that young people were drawn to his outdoor adventure scheme by the thrill of death. Australian teenager David Iredale died in in New South Wales at the height of summer in 2006 on a training camp for a scheme of which he is the chairman. The Prince was slammed as crass and insensitive when he responded to questions about the 17-year-olds death.
Bruni branded new Marie Antoinette of France
London: French first lady Carla Bruni has been branded the new Marie Antoinette by the countrys leading society magazine. Drawing comparisons with Antoinette,ill-fated wife of King Louis XVI who was beheaded during the French Revolution,Point de Vue has portrayed Bruni as a daffy multi-millionaire socialite who does very little real work and is out of touch with ordinary people. The magazine juxtaposes photos of Bruni with paintings of the Queen of France,The Daily Telegraph reported.
Iraqi dad runs over Westernised daughter
Peoria: Police say an Iraqi immigrant has been arrested for allegedly running down his daughter because she was becoming too Westernised. Police in Peoria,a suburb of Phoenix,are releasing few details but say 48-year-old Faleh Almaleki is in custody in Georgia. Jim Joyner,a spokesman for the US Marshals Service in Atlanta,says Almaleki was arrested on Thursday when he arrived at Atlantas airport. Twenty-year-old Noor Faleh Almaleki is hospitalised in serious condition.
