MANMOHAN vs MODI
All eyes are on an event in Ahmedabad on Tuesday where Prime Minister Manmohan Singh is expected to share the dais with BJPs PM candidate Narendra Modi. The function is to inaugurate a memorial dedicated to Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel and the PM will also be addressing the gathering. Singh is expected to go a step ahead in his address over what National Security Advisor Shivshankar Menon did earlier this month taking a dig at Modi during a lecture on Patel in which he said that unlike his imitators, the leader had worked for communal harmony. It is to be seen if Modi will respond to it in his address to the gathering.
FRIENDLY GESTURE
While Pakistan has not been in any mood to accept Indias position that the entire state of Jamp;K including PoK is its territory, the neighbouring countrys armed forces seem to be more accommodative. In an article in the official Pakistan armed forces magazine Hilal,a map has been published that aligns with Indias version of the International Border the only exception being that the Line of Actual Control LAC with China has also been marked out. The entire state otherwise is shown as part of India. Ironically, the article that has been penned by a Colonel and is titled Indias military threat to China, has been tagged right at the beginning as Future Maps.
