TRS men attack Naidus convoy

The Telangana Rashtra Samiti TRS activists on Monday threw stones at TDP chief N Chandrababu Naidu while he was on his way to Mahbubnagar

The Telangana Rashtra Samiti TRS activists on Monday threw stones at TDP chief N Chandrababu Naidu while he was on his way to Mahbubnagar to meet farmers facing fertiliser scarcity, injuring several TDP workers, some TV cameramen and policemen.

Ignoring warnings by the TRS not to enter Telangana,Naidu set out for Mahbubnagar in the morning. He was having breakfast at the home of Pargi MLA Harishwar Rao,when it was pelted with stones by some TRS activists shouting slogans against Naidu and TDP for opposing creation of Telangana state. Some TDP workers who tried to prevent the stones from landing at Naidus table were injured. When TV cameramen started recording the incident, the TRS activists threw stones at them as well, injuring several. A few policemen were also injured.

The stone-pelters also damaged a few vehicles in Naidus convoy before they were chased away by police. Naidu, however, was unfazed by the attack and left for Mahbubnagar a few minutes after the incident. Near Chevalla,TRS workers again tried to stop the convoy but police and Naidus security men foiled the attempt.

In Hyderabad, the PRP organised a dharna outside the Andhra Pradesh Industrial Infrastructure Corporation APIIC. Chiranjeevi alleged that the APIIC gave away hundreds of acres of prime land to developers in violation of rules and demanded a CBI probe into it.

When Chiranjeevi and his colleagues tried to enter the APIIC building to give a memorandum, police took them into preventive custody.
