Trouble from Trinamool too

On a day when the NCP came out against any move to deregulate diesel prices, another UPA ally, the Trinamool Congress, said it will follow suit. Leader of TMCs Parliamentary Party in the Lok Sabha Sudip Bandyopadhyay said his party would not support move to deregulate the prices of diesel.

This followed an announcement from the government that just like petrol,it had in-principle agreed to deregulate diesel prices as well, but not cooking gas.

Sources in the TMC said party chief Mamata Banerjee has had a discussion with her MPs and has instructed them to voice their opposition as and when the Centres plans on deregulation of diesel is spelled out. She is also said to have reminded her party leaders that the TMC election manifesto of 2011 clearly opposes any move to hike cooking gas and diesel prices, which have inflationary impact on the economy and hurt the common man.
