To make up for low media coverage,IAC launches SMS card

To make up for the diminishing media coverage,India Against Corruption IAC has launched an SMS card to disseminate information about its anti-graft campaign. The Anna SMS Card costing Rs 25 once purchased would keep the holder informed of the activities of IAC for up to a year. One crore such cards will be issued in the first phase,IAC volunteers said.

We have begun distributing the cards,which have been sent to New Delhi and Chennai from where they will be distributed to other parts. Our volunteers in different cities will be given the stock of the cards. People interested can contact them and get the card. We are not going to make any profit out of selling or distributing these cards, said Datta Avari,one of Anna Hazares associates.

The users have to SMS the serial number of the scratch card to 9223334545 they will be given regular updates on our programmes throughout the year in Hindi and English,said Avari.

During previous protests SMS played a critical role in mobilising masses. However,it is quite expensive to send messages at regular intervals to crores. In order to recover costs from the people,we has launched this card, another volunteer said.
