While there has been a vocal campaign for a Bharat Ratna for Sachin Tendulkar,a somewhat muted pitch for a similar honour is being made for an almost forgotten scientist Dr Har Gobind Khorana,a 1968 Nobel Prize winner. Some scientists and Indo-Americans have written to the government asking for a national honour for Khorana who turned a US citizen in 1960,some years before he was awarded the Nobel Prize in Medicine. Khorana was honoured with Padma Vibhushan in the year 1969 and he can only be considered for a Bharat Ratna now.
