Terror has no religion,says BJP

The BJP on Monday said that terror has no religion and that all terrorist activities, and those found to be indulging in them, must be dealt with firmly.

The BJP on Monday said that terror has no religion and that all terrorist activities, and those found to be indulging in them, must be dealt with firmly. This came on a day the RSS admitted, without naming the 2007 Ajmer blast, that one of those charged in the recent blasts had been associated with the Sangh, but added that he had been stripped of all responsibilities, and that the organisation was against illegal or violent activities.

Former BJP president,M Venkaiah Naidu said,Terrorist is a terrorist, whatever religion he belongs to. This is the stand of the BJP. Dont label him Muslim or Hindu. By labelling terrorists on basis of religion, you are playing into the hands of Pakistan.

RSS general secretary Bhaiyyaji Joshi, meanwhile, issued a statement, admitting, implicitly, that one of those alleged to have a hand in the Ajmer blasts had been associated with the Sangh. The RSS believes in the due Constitutional process. The Sangh would neither support nor give protection to illegal or violent activities, he said.

Having faith in the impartiality of the investigations, the concerned office bearers of RSS have relieved the individual charged in this particular incident of all (organisational) responsibilities, Joshi said in the statement.

The statement did not refer to any particular incident, but the RSS office confirmed, upon enquiries, that the reference was to one of the arrests made in connection with the Ajmer blasts, but it was not willing to name the individual concerned.

Joshi, however, slammed the media coverage of the arrests and a bid to drag the RSS name into the arrests. In connection with the blasts at some places,ATS has arrested certain suspects, according to newspaper reports. The newspapers have, however, also linked these incidents to the RSS. The RSS condemns this in strongest words, said Joshis statement. It added that there should be proper investigations and the appropriate legal action should be taken against the guilty, but the innocent should not be harassed.

The BJP,meanwhile, denied that the party was reluctant to condemn the Ajmer and Malegaon blasts. Whether it is the Mecca Masjid blast,or Malegaon,or Gokul Chaat or Lumbini Park (both in Hyderabad),the accused should be shown no mercy, Naidu said.

BJP delayed blast probe: Rajasthan

JAIPUR: Rajasthan Home Minister Shanti Dhariwal on Monday slammed the BJP,saying it delayed the Ajmer blast probe intentionally as it knew that Hindu Right-wing organisations were involved. The Rajasthan Police had the SIM cards and mobile details that were used to crack the case 16 months ago,but did not do anything with it. There was never any serious effort to crack the case, Dhariwal said. BJP state president Arun Chaturvedi, however, rubbished Dhariwals statements. The Congress is trying to score political points, he said.

An Ajmer court, meanwhile, gave the Rajasthan ATS permission to conduct narco-analysis test on Devendra Gupta, who arrested last week in connection with the blast probe. A team will take Gupta to Hyderabad to conduct the tests. ENS
