Angry over regular teasing for being lean and for wearing spectacles,a Class XI boy shot at his classmate with his uncles licensed revolver on the school premises in Kanpur on Tuesday. The victim,who was shot in his ribs,is out of danger.

The 16-year-old accused,a student of KR Education Centre at Sanigawan in Chakeri area,has been arrested for attempt to murder. He told the police that his classmates used to tease him ever since he joined the school this year. On Monday too,they made fun of him before other students for not wearing his sweater properly.

He said he was fed up of the regular humiliation and carried his uncles revolver in his school bag. He had decided to scare his classmates by pointing the revolver if they laughed at him again. He did not intend to fire,but the revolver went off accidentally,he said.

The boys father,a businessman,claimed that his son had developed inferiority complex and was undergoing treatment by a psychiatrist for the past eight months.

However,Kanpur DIG B P Jogdand said,We are not aware about the boy undergoing any medical treatment.
