Telugu Desam Party MLA from Devarakadra,Sita Dayakar Reddy, who allegedly drove a woman mandal agricultural officer to commit suicide,is untraceable, said the Mahbubnagar police on Monday.

Sita Reddy is the president of the TDPs womens wing.

A team of Mahbubnagar police went to Hyderabad to arrest the MLA after a tip-off that she was staying in her MLA quarters, but came back empty handed after finding the place locked. Her cellphone is also switched off and her family members maintain that they are not aware of her whereabouts. Sita Reddy is learnt to have met party leader N Janardhan Reddy who advised her to surrender to police after going back to Mahbubnagar. However, till late evening, there was no sign of Sita Reddy at her quarters.

B Rajeshwari,an agriculture officer in Mahbubnagar district, committed suicide on October 14 by setting herself ablaze. In her dying statement before a Magistrate,Rajeshwari said that Sita Reddy,Zilla Parishad Territorial Constituency member Pradip Goud and Mandal Praja Parishad member Bharati Reddy were harassing her to sanction agriculture equipment and sprinkler systems to some persons they had recommended. She said that they had warned her of dire consequences if she did not include the names they had recommended in the beneficiaries list.

Marikal police of Mahbubnagar district registered a case against all three persons named by Rajeshwari. While Bharati Reddy has already surrendered before Mahbubnagar SP G Sudhir Babu, both Sita Reddy and Pradip Goud are missing.

SP Babu said that Sita Reddy was not to be found at her home in Mahbubnagar nor at her MLA quarters in Hyderabad. She is untraceable, he said on Monday.

The case turned controversial because Rajeshwari gave two dying declarations one on October 18 and another on October 20. While she named the TDP MLA in her first dying declaration,in her second declaration, she said that the MLA did not threaten or intimidate her,but requested her to include the names she recommended.

While Home Minister P Sabitha Indra Reddy assured that no one would be spared if they are involved, police is in a quandary because they registered the case against the MLA based on the first dying declaration. We will go ahead with our investigations as per the case registered. We will include the second declaration later. We have launched a hunt for the absconding persons in this case. So far, they have not been traced, SP Babu said.
