Homegrown auto major Tata Motors said its global sales increased by 39 per cent in March to 1,01,712 units on robust demand for both commercial and passenger vehicles.
The company also reported an increase of 19 per cent in its global sales during fiscal 2009-10 at 8,72,951 units compared to the previous year,Tata Motors said in a statement.
In March,the global sales of luxury brands from Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) were at 23,538 units,up 43 per cent over the same month last year,it added.
Jaguar sales for the month were at 4,642 units,an increase of eight per cent over March 2009,while Land Rover sales went up by 55 per cent during the month to 18,896 units.
The total passenger vehicles sales stood at 53,776 units in March 2010,a growth of 28 per cent from the corresponding month last year,it said.
Commercial vehicle sales were also up 53 per cent at 47,936 units from the same month last year,it added.
During 2009-10 fiscal,the company,however,reported a fall of 11 per cent in its global sales of JLR at 1,93,982 units compared to the previous fiscal,the statement said.
Cumulative sales of Jaguar during the fiscal declined by 24 per cent to 47,418 units compared to 2008-09,while Land Rover sales were down six per cent at 1,46,564 units.
The company said its global passenger vehicles sales in 2009-10 were up six per cent at 4,59,894 units.
Cumulative sales of commercial vehicles for the fiscal saw a 37 per cent jump at 4,13,057 units,it added.
The Tata Motors Group’s global sales comprises of Tata,Tata Daewoo and Hispano Carrocera range of commercial vehicles,Tata passenger vehicles along with the distributed brands in India,and Jaguar and Land Rover.
