Stanley Ka Dabba is the latest offering from Amole Gupteof the Taare Zameen Par fame who is known for his inherent ability for thinking out-of-the-box. In the film the director has capitalised on his strength: child psyche, and has used an ordinary tiffin-box as a metaphor to draw attention to the mixed bag of school experiences 8211; something that most of faced as kids. The director has drawn heavily from his school years. Stanley, the protagonist, loves to be with his friends and win their appreciation and love,at times with his sparkling wit and innocence and on other occasions with heartfelt poetry. He is the first to arrive in school and has a knack to cover up for his parents humble background with the finesse of a seasoned diplomat. But,when Verma-sir attempts to polish off their dabbas,Stanley and his friends try to ward him off with all the guile at their disposal. The film throws light on the everyday life of a schoolgoing child. As kids movies go,we hope that the film brings a lot to the party.

The Buzz

It has been learnt that Amole Gupte edited the film on Karan Johars editing machine as he could not afford anything else. The director shot for the film only during his workshops, for four hours during the weekends.

Stanley Ka Dabba has been shot at Amole Guptes primary school, the Holy Family High School in Mumbai

Amole used to give cinema and theatre workshops for children on weekends and the film, that has been made on a shoestring budget, was actually shot during those sessions.
