NComputing,the global leaders in desktop virtualisation,is soon launching its award-winning USB-connected virtual desktop U170,which taps into the unused resources of a PC to allow multiple use. The U170 is offered in a one-station kit and with plug-and-play simplicity for up to 10 users per PC. The U170 will enable users to cut computing costs by sharing the untapped power of existing computers,especially in large schools and small businesses. It also has connections for the additional user’s own peripherals like keyboard,monitor,and mouse. The U170 will cost Rs 5,000.

The solar call
With 15 state-of-the-art Bluetooth devices,I-Tech hopes to capture the hands-free market in India. Among their products launched this month is the SolarVoice 908,the first solar-powered Bluetooth headset with background noise reduction for better clarity. The unit can be charged under the sun and employs an advanced suite of digital signal processing software to reduce background noise and distortion. The SolarVoice 908 is available for Rs 6,499. I-Tech has also brought in the Solar Charger 906 with a high-performance monocrystalline solar panel and special solar chipset that enables it to charge any mobile device. The SolarCharger is also priced at Rs 6,499.

The voice guide
The Garminfone,an Android phone with the full Garmin GPS features,will sound familiar to lots of people. Not because of Garmin’s nearly forgotten Nuviphone,but because of a new feature called Garmin Voice Studio,which allows you to replace the voice that gives you directions with that of anyone who will agree to be recorded. Regular Garmin features like voice and on-screen turn by turn is included as well as lane guidance and junction view,which gives you a 3-D rendering of difficult intersections. The phone itself has a three-and-a-half inch screen,Wi-Fi,stereo Bluetooth,a 3-megapixel camera and a MicroSD expansion slot that supports up to 32GB.
