Three youths travelling atop a train were killed and four critically injured after being hit by an overbridge in Ajmer city of Rajasthan on Sunday.
The accident occurred early in the morning when a large number of youths were going in trains to different districts for the police constable recruitment examination scheduled for the day. The incident came to light when passengers in a coach found blood trickling down in their coach after the train halted at Nareerabad railway station. They informed the railway authorities following which GRP staff found the bodies of two youths and five others in critically injured state, GRP sources told PTI.
Students said that a boy who was standing on the moving train was hit by an overbridge a few minutes after the train left Ajmer junction. Few others also stood up to see him crying and they also got hit by the bridge and fell unconscious. However,none fell down from the train, they said. According to the GRP,the bridge is around 1 km from Ajmer junction.
The deceased,all aged 19 years and identified as Heeralal Meena and Mukesh Kumar Meena from Jaipur and Hansraj Gujjar of Dausa,were going to Pratapgarh and Chittorgarh districts for the examination.
The injured candidates,identified as Trilok,Rinku,Satyapal Singh and Kheli Ram,were admitted to JLN hospital in Ajmer where their condition was stated to be serious,sources said,adding that the train was overcrowded and many students who had climbed on top of the train were pulled down from it,but when the train started moving,several students climbed atop the train again.
