Scientist consumes poison,probe on

A senior scientist with the Saha Institute of Nuclear Physics SINP here died on Wednesday after allegedly consuming mercuric chloride the day before. Results of the postmortem and results are awaited.

Local police said Dalia Nayek 35,who worked with the Chemistry Department as an Associate Professor,was rushed to hospital by neighbours who heard her loud cries for help on Tuesday evening. Nayeks friends reportedly found her flat door open and she told them she had just consumed mercuric chloride. We have lodged a case of unnatural death and started an investigation. We did not find any suicide note, said North 24-Parganas SP Rahul Srivastav.
