Red faces over Bardhan meet

By refusing to meet Samajwadi Party leader Amar Singh,CPI(M) general secretary Prakash Karat has given rise to voices of discontent in the CPI. The otherwise loyal colleagues of CPI general secretary A B Bardhan are now questioning his decision to meet Singh. They believe the SP leader met Bardhan only to put pressure on the Congress in their seat-sharing talks in Uttar Pradesh. While Bardhan argues that he is a political leader and there is nothing wrong in meeting other leaders, his party colleagues are not convinced. Although Bardhan shares a great rapport with Karat and they often consult each other on the phone, the CPI leader apparently could not consult his CPI(M) counterpart before meeting Singh.
