Protesting MBBS aspirants in MP call off their agitation

Three Indore-based students began fasting a week ago and had to be forcibly hospitalised.

A day after three aspirants to MBBS seats wrote letters in blood to CM Shivraj Singh Chouhan, the Madhya Pradesh government Wednesday succeeded in ending their week-long agitation after convincing them that only the Medical Council of India or the SC could take a call on their demand. Over 100 seats in government medical colleges in the state are lying vacant after admission of students who had allegedly used fraudulent means were cancelled. The Special Task Force probing the scam in the pre-medical test has arrested officials of Madhya Pradesh Professional Examination Board, the body that conducted the tests, students and middlemen among others. Several influential persons, including a former minister, are under the scanner. Students, who were in the waiting list, are now demanding that the vacant seats be filled by them.
