Party Hour

For once, the stars didn’t have to ask Where’s the party tonight?

For once, the stars didn’t have to ask Where’s the party tonight? The Screen after-awards party was the perfect place to unwind after the grand ceremony with superstars like Shah Rukh Khan and Vidya Balan exchanging notes with maiden awardees like Pitobash, the winner of Best Actor in a Comic Role. The unassuming actor, who was high on his win, hugged SRK as soon as he spotted him and refused to leave him. He told a bemused Shah Rukh that they have to do a film together,to which the charismatic star replied Inshallah.

Even as SRK was surrounded by fans and friends,Vidya, dazzling in a black and gold Kanjeevaram sari grabbed eyeballs as soon as she entered the room with her parents in tow. Photographers went click-happy while fans mobbed The Dirty Picture actor for autographs. Vidya obliged everyone with a radiant smile. Soon, she joined SRK and the two looked so good together that we can’t wait to see them paired in a film. They have appeared together in Housefull but that was only for the song Dil da mamla.

Talking about dil,our very own soap queen Ekta Kapoor, who was declared the Best Performer of the Year for churning out different films like the Marathi Taryanche Bait,Ragini MMS,Shor In The City and the blockbuster The Dirty Picture, was in a mood to find a suitable soulmate. She told Indian Express Editor-In-Chief,Shekhar Gupta to introduce her to eligible bachelors at the party! As if to reiterate her point, she had come dressed in a lovely ghagra choli, ditching her favourite western attire. Giving her company was her good friend Mustaq Sheikh and team from Balaji Films including the CEO,Tanuj Garg and President,Swati Shetty. It was nice to see the usually harried producer in a boisterous mood, mingling with one and all.

Parties are also a time to catch up with old friends and our Marathi jury member Kishori Shahane Vij did exactly that. She met Kiran Shantaram and Subhash Ghai, making it a point to introduce her teenage son Bobby. Laying the ground for his film debut,we hope.

Also, there were first-timers like Bejoy Nambiar — the Most Promising Debut Director — who kept to himself. Attempts to drag him to the dance floor were stalled with him promising to join after finishing his glass of wine. It’s a different matter that neither the wine got over, nor did he shake a leg. However, that wasn’t the case with Pitobash, who boogied the night away with his prized trophy.
