With the government not yielding to the Opposition demand for instituting a JPC probe into the 2G spectrum allocation,the deadlock in Parliament continued on Friday with both the Houses being adjourned till Monday without transacting any business for the eighth day. Sources said Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee spoke to Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha Sushma Swaraj in the morning and proposed an alternative mechanism wherein the Public Accounts Committee and investigations by various agencies could be tagged together.He is learnt to have got in touch with CPMs Sitaram Yechury as well. But the Opposition stuck to their demand for a JPC.As soon as the Lok Sabha met,opposition members from BJP,SP and AIADMK trooped into the well of the House demanding a JPC probe,forcing Speaker Meira Kumar to adjourn the House till noon. Rajya Sabha witnessed similar scenes.The Opposition forced adjournment of both the Houses for the day when they assembled again at noon. However,the Speaker allowed laying down of papers in the list of business amid the din.
