After Vigilance Enquiry Commissioner and Special Judge P K Haneefa withdrew from hearing the palmolein import case, the government pleader in the case,P A Ahammed, resigned in protest against the Vigilance and Anti-Corruption Bureaus report that found little evidence to make Chief Minister Oommen Chandy an accused in the case.
Ahammed, who was appointed by the previous LDF government, said that he was quitting as the special prosecutor as he was not convinced about the Vigilances further probe report which had given a clean chit to Chandy. The Vigilance had not consulted with me before submitting the report, he said.
