Poll reforms: The Election Commission of Pakistan ECP intends to launch sweeping reforms for the first time to promote democracy. Under the changes the ECP hopes to bring about greater transparency and prevent rigging. Pakistan is due to hold its next general election in 2013.

PPP unites on Zardari graft case: The PPP leadership will put up a show of strength on Tuesday in support of their co-chair and Pakistans President Asif Zardari,to back its decision not to reopen graft cases against him. All federal and provincial ministers of PPP,except Interior Minister Rehman Malik and Defence Minister Ahmed Mukhtar, will accompany the Law Minister to the apex court.

Army top brass back Kayani: The Pakistan Armys top brass are united in their support for granting a service extension to Army chief Gen Ashfaq Parvez Kayani till the war on terror takes a decisive turn. Kayani is set to retire on November 28 this year. Seven lieutenant generals are set to retire during the last six months of this year.
